Smith Lake People: Sammy of Rock Creek Marina

If you haven’t heard of Rock Creek Marina then you must be hiding under a rock. Rock Creek is "the place to feed the fish” … with baby bottles at that! My niece and nephew request a visit and their ice cream each and every time they come to the lake!

Rock Creek Marina is without a doubt a Smith Lake Alabama icon. To sum it up in one sentence, you haven’t experienced Smith Lake until you’ve paid this place a visit.  Rock Creek Marina is unique for many reasons. 


While the fish and ice cream are fabulous, those are just two things that makes Rock Creek Marina such a special place. From the second you pull up, you feel at home. Like most successful businesses it’s the people that make the business what it is. And for Rock Creek Marina, that person is Sammy. 

Owning Rock Creek Marina holds many favorites for Sammy, but there is one that stands out. The marina isn’t just “work” for him. Like many Smith Lake patrons it is a special place for him as well. Sammy was friends with the former owners and has been coming to the marina since 1975.

The end of this month will start Sammy’s 16th season as the owner of this Smith Lake gem. Together, with the help of his wife, four children, Mother and stepfather they make Rock Creek Marina breathe! Sammy’s laid back and easygoing nature makes Rock Creek Marina unique!  The ambiance of the place is like no other on our lake. If you’ve never been, be sure you add this experience to your Smith Lake Summer Bucket List for 2018!  Rock Creek Marina will be open for the season on March 31st!
