The Beginning 

During the summer of 2015, my family and I were on Clear Creek letting our oldest daughter try her hand at wakeboarding. As I sat there, phone in hand, ready to video her and snap a few photos, I looked around me. While I'd been on Clear Creek numerous times, the beauty of this place hit me square in the face. Later that night I searched my favorite social media platform, Instagram, for other like minded users. What I found surprised me, no wonder so many friends questioned why we choose Smith over Martin!  

After skimming through Instagram accounts and a variety of hashtags, I started an account called "Smith Lake Leisure". I immediately shared a few posts from our glorious day on the water. I found a few other users that seemed to share my love for this place. I woke up the next morning to 100 new followers and an inbox full of photos from folks sending in their pictures to share. So I did. Two weeks later the following quickly hit 500. People kept sending photos, so I kept sharing.

Smith Lake Alabama Gear

God works in wonderful ways & opens doors when you are least expecting. In 2016 I saw an awesome shirt on another lake's account.  I wanted one for myself, so I messaged the account asking to print some for Smith Lake. They shared their printer's contact info, I got my shirt and the rest for the minimum order sold out in under 12 hours. With some many requests for more or different sizes, I did another order and added some hats we designed --- and Smith Lake Alabama gear was born.  

I've also seen God's plan for this little venture with my heart wide open. I have a son with special needs & having a little business he can help with has been a prayer of mine for several years {building software is my real gig & even I need help with that). Today he walks your order to the mailbox after I pack it, but I aim for him to do more as he gets older, all while teaching him responsibility and work ethic!

The Smith Lake Alabama page and it's social media feeds aren't about us, nor will they ever be. I’ve been overwhelmed with the love for it by all of the followers -- from messages to texts to emails. This is the only Smith Lake venture I am a part of and from the bottom of this Mama's heart, thank you for giving me this outlet to teach my son and represent our lake!
